Hardwell Finds New Depth in Trance-Inspired Anthem, “Sanctuary”

Posted on April 11, 2025April 24, 2025

Not every sanctuary is a quiet place. Sometimes it’s a festival stage shaking under the weight of a brand new Hardwell anthem.

The Dutch EDM icon recently opened his Ultra Miami performance with the live debut of his new single “Sanctuary,” a sweeping, emotionally charged anthem that ignited the festival’s sprawling crowd into a synchronized wave of shared release.

More than a return to form, “Sanctuary” marks a reawakening for Hardwell, whose work in recent years has been defined by darker, techno-forward productions. Here, he shifts the spotlight to shimmering melodies, trance-influenced chord progressions and soaring builds that echo his past while carving out something unmistakably fresh.

“Over the past few months, I found myself diving more and more into melodic structures and playing around with different soundscapes,” Hardwell said. “Out of all the projects I was working on, ‘Sanctuary’ was one I just couldn’t let go of. It’s not quite a full trance track, but it definitely pulls in elements from that genre, which I love.”

That emotion rings clear in every bar, as stadium arpeggios and thumping kicks entwine to create a moment that embraces the spirit of festival grandeur. The track is out now via Hardwell’s own record label, Revealed, which celebrated its 1,000th release last year.
