Party or Peace? Why the Clevelander and Essex House Are Miami's Top Hotels for Music Week 2025

Posted on March 10, 2025April 24, 2025

Some hotels give you a place to stay during Miami Music Week—these two put you in the heart of the experience.

The week preceding Ultra Music Festival is one giant, endless dance party in Miami’s hotels, bars, restaurants and streets, a networking experience rivaled by only a handful of music summits in the world. But when it comes to hotels, few places match the energy, convenience and style of the Clevelander and Essex House.

Perfect for visitors who want the indulgence of Miami without breaking the bank, these sister properties offer two distinct experiences, but together, they create the ultimate home base for electronic music lovers and festival-goers. After all, why just attend Miami Music Week or Ultra when you can make your hotel part of the party?

The Clevelander is an institution. Perched on Ocean Drive, it’s been a staple of Miami since 1938 and it’s ideal for those looking to immerse themselves in the area’s vibrant nightlife and beach culture. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach and it’s just a 1-2 minute walk across the road to reach the sandy shores of South Beach.

The Clevelander’s sun-kissed pool and patio are central to its appeal, as are its rooftop decks, which provide panoramic oceanfront and city skyline views. Inside, the rooms are clean and cozy with minimalist décor, plush bedding and glass-enclosed showers. You can book rooms with pool views or ocean views, or secure one of the hotel’s spacious Rockstar Suites with an expanded layout, king-sized bed and expansive views of Ocean Drive.

For those who crave a little more balance, Essex House is the perfect complement. Tucked just behind the Clevelander, this Art Deco boutique hotel provides a quieter retreat while keeping you close to the action.

The Essex’s vintage charm and relaxed atmosphere offer a respite from the bedlam of Miami Music Week without sacrificing convenience. Guests still have access to the Clevelander’s vibrant parties, meaning you can dive in when you want and escape when you need.

The property features a serene pool nestled in a tropical courtyard with a fountain and bougainvillea. It offers 70 rooms, including 14 luxurious suites, which have king-size beds, pullout sofas and expanded bathrooms equipped with hot tubs.

Beyond the music, the location of both properties is unbeatable. Situated in the heart of South Beach, you’re just a block away from world-class eateries, cafés, designer boutiques and pristine beaches. Whether you’re waking up to a sunrise stroll on the sand or grabbing a post-show bite at a nearby late-night spot, everything is within reach.
